HLRN IV System

The HLRN IV System is providing high performance computing power for sciencists in the North German Supercomputing Alliance (Norddeutscher Verbund für Hoch- und Höchstleistungsrechnen – HLRN) which operates a distributed supercomputer system.

The users of the HLRN are supported by a transregional and interdisciplinary competence network consisting of application experts.

The HLRN IV system is currently operated as part of the North-German Supercomputing Alliance (HLRN). Consultants from physics and materials science, chemistry and bioinformatics as well as earth system research and engineering sciences provide advice to researchers from Berlin and the other member states of HLRN. The consultants support the efficient implementation of projects in both large-scale computing and data analysis, facilitating innovative research.

System has been delivered together with Atos/Bull and Intel.

HLRN IV Supercomputer Liquid Cooling Technology:

  • 13x racks with direct liquid cooled Intel Computing servers
  • 13x Stainless steel Rack Manifolds, featuring 100% dry-break quick disconnect technology
  • 3x row based CDUs managing 14 racks
  • Custom secondary fluid network below the racks
  • Warm water cooling of up to 32C water from the facilities
  • Nearly room neutral solution with Stulz CRS Cyberrows and Insulated Racks
