TOPIC: Freezone and Domino project

Freezone and Domino project 2 Months, 3 Weeks ago Karma: 2
I currently have a Domino A.L.C. and am about an hour from winning an ebay auction for a freezone. I would like to combine both in to the one loop.

My questions are:
1.What are all the parts I will need to combine them. (ie how many feet of tubing, what fitings, etc...)
2.What parts should I use, which pump should I use and which cpu block should I use?
3.I am worried about condensations, with that in mind should I go CPU -> Domino rad -> freezone -> CPU or to make sure temps don't go too low, should I do CPU -> freezone -> Domino rad -> CPU. my worry is that if the rad is first then the temps should be lower, but I don't want to go low enough for condensation. avg temps are 21-25c with 80% all the way up to 94% humidity. I know temps wont be low enough under load, but I am more worried about idle.

Thanks for the help.

BTW CoolIt employees (who are also forum members), I recently sent an email in on the website and I haven't heard anything back, just hoping it doesn't get lost or forgotten about. P.M. me and I will provide the email address from which it was sent. Thanks

1.What are all the parts I will need to combine them. (ie how many feet of tubing, what fitings, etc...)

- 5 ft of Neoprene tubing 1/4" ID w/ 3/8" OD should be enough unless you make a few too many mistakes cutting the hose.
- Bitspower 1/4" barbs w/ G 1/4" threads (Only if your replacing the Pump & CPU Waterblock)

- Use small clamps or zip ties to secure tubing to barbs (Zip ties work great - use them all the time on neoprene tubing)

Link Clamps Shown Above -------> Clamps: CHI Company

2.What parts should I use, which pump should I use and which cpu block should I use?

- I suggest you purchase another pump w/ reservoir to make it easier to refill / maintain your loop

- If you have a few extra bucks I recommend that you purchase another CPU block - (Swiftech Apogee XT & EK-Supreme). Swiftech is the easiest to install IMO. If your going to use your existing block either one will work.[/color]

- If your using a radiator in your loop you shouldn't form any condensation.
- Stick with CPU, Pump/Res, Domino Rad, Freezone, CPU (Moving the pump around probably wont make a difference)

You can purchase the parts above from the following:

- FrozenCPU
- Performace-PCs
- Sidwinder
- Xoxide
- Crazy PC

thanks for the reply.

I won't be doing the pump reservoir thing right now.

I didn't mean moving the pump around, I meant the orientation of whether the water went throught the rad then by the TECs then to the CPU, or from the CPU to the TECs then to the rad (obviously not going to cool as well, but I think it may help with condensation).

how do I remove the tubing from the pump and block. I guess if I can keep the line from the freezone water block to the TECs, I won't need any extra tubing. (unless the barbs on the domino aren't any good).

It wont be easy to re-prime your stock Coolit pumps unless you know what you're doing. I had to make an adaptor that forced the coolant throgh the lines.

If your going to run (CPU, TEC, Rad) its not really worth adding the Freezone to your loop IMO. The radiator/fans will prevent you from going below ambient temperatures even with the freezone attached. You could use your MTEC controler to adjust the temps if the humidity is extreamly high

Adding a radiator to a TEC loop usally helps with the load temps not ide

1st - Use a small screwdiver to unhook the spring.
2nd - Use a set of heavy duty wire snips to cut the loop off of the clamp.
3rd - Remove Clamp

Note: If you try to pry it off you will damage the barbs.

I may add a reservoir, but I don't have the money for a new pump. the tubing on my domino looks different than that. I was thinking of carefully cutting along the tubing with a razor blad (@the barbs) and then pulling the tubing off.

Hey drummerdude

The Domino is in no way modder friendly. I have not seen a single 1 taken apart without it breaking.

As you noticed the Domino uses different hoses and barbs than all other products. They are not removable.

(unless the barbs on the domino aren't any good). You hit the nail on the head there. The barbs are the problem, they will break and are not replaceable. Ill never say something cant be done but I do not recommend it in anyway.

Your best bet if you really want to mod your own system is to basically start from scratch. Save the Domino for a backup or use it in another system. Use the Freezone you ordered and buy a cheap 120mm rad, a res and CPU block as the 1 on the freezone is very outdated and you will notice how small it is. You could use the pump that comes with the Freezone but a stronger aftermarket pump will do wonders. This way you can hook it up to speed control and control the waterflow rate.

Like Malkie pointed out a res is very handy if not a necessity when filling these loops. It is tricky and can be really hard on your pump.

Always, always put the rad before the TECs. CPU>RES>PUMP>RAD>TEC>CPU. This way your CPU will get the coldest temps. I dont think you will get condensation even tho you live in a very hot and humid climate.
